Eshowe Country Club
Eshowe Country Club, Eshowe, Zululand, KwaZulu Natal / The Eshowe Country Club is situated on the Eshowe Hills Eco Estate in Eshowe and as such meanders through the famous Dlinza Forest and grasslands which are rich in indigenous fauna and flora.
The Eshowe course is not long and you could be forgiven for thinking that it might not test the more skilled golfer, do not be fooled, it is a real test of golf and at the same time can be enjoyed by golfers of all handicaps.The 11th hole is a good example, at only 279 meters this par 4 is no push over. Your tee shot is all important, too long and you are in a large pond guarding the front of the green, with trees on the right approach has to be spot on. A par is always welcome here to even the best of golfers.
Strict environmental controls have ensured that the local birdlife and animals have been well catered for the Dlinza forest is famous for its wide variety of birdlife. With the introduction of 5 new water holes the course has now taken on a parklike character which has in turn attracted a The Eshowe Golf Course itself has been upgraded by former European PGA Champion, Jeff Hawkes. The course was designed by that most famous of South African course architects Bob Grimsdell and Jeff has ensured that none of its original character has been lost.
Mtunzini Country Club
A drive through the beautiful village of Mtunzini (“Place in the shade”) will ultimately lead you to the Mtunzini Country Club. Perched high on the hill it boasts a panoramic view of both the Umlalazi Reserve lagoon and the Indian Ocean beyond.
Besides the well maintained 9-hole golf course, tennis and squash courts, the country club forms a hub of social and community life in Mtunzini. You will find Bridge ladies and cyclists, social butterflies and beer flies, braai’ers and breakfasters enjoying the welcoming & home away from home atmosphere.
The Fairways Restaurant is open 7 days a week from breakfast time. The menu offers a small but tasty selection and includes items such as fresh salmon from the fish farm in Mtunzini. Wednesday evenings are considered the main social event of the week, when a special pub supper is on offer. The pub is the heart of this village club, while a sundowner on the deck is highly recommended.
